Now THAT’S how you support Gay marriage.

If Betty White and Clint Eastwood say yes to gay marriage and you don’t, you can get the fuck out of here.

Zachary Quinto Inspires ABC News Anchor to Come Out on Air

annie-banks:

Dan Kloeffler, one of the anchors of ABC’s World News Now, the zany 3am news program that most people only see when they wake up on the couch to shut off the TV, came out on the air early this morning. And it’s all because of Zachary Quinto.

Kloeffler was talking about the news of Quinto’s coming out when he added, in the joking manner often found on a show that has its own polka theme song, that he would ignore his ban on dating actors to date Mr. Quinto. You and me both, buster.

The now-out Kloeffler explains on the ABC News website ”for the same reason that Zach decided to come out, I too, no longer wanted to hide this part of my life.” And that’s all it took, one little joke about liking boys and all the hiding is over. “As a journalist, I don’t want to be the story, but as a gay man I don’t want to stand silent if I can offer some inspiration or encouragement to kids that might be struggling with who they are,” he says.

"when i found out that jamey rodemeyer killed himself - i felt deeply troubled. but when i found out that jamey rodemeyer had made an it gets better video only months before taking his own life - i felt indescribable despair. i also made an it gets better video last year - in the wake of the senseless and tragic gay teen suicides that were sweeping the nation at the time. but in light of jamey’s death - it became clear to me in an instant that living a gay life without publicly acknowledging it - is simply not enough to make any significant contribution to the immense work that lies ahead on the road to complete equality. our society needs to recognize the unstoppable momentum toward unequivocal civil equality for every gay lesbian bisexual and transgendered citizen of this country. gay kids need to stop killing themselves because they are made to feel worthless by cruel and relentless bullying. parents need to teach their children principles of respect and acceptance. we are witnessing an enormous shift of collective consciousness throughout the world. we are at the precipice of great transformation within our culture and government. i believe in the power of intention to change the landscape of our society - and it is my intention to live an authentic life of compassion and integrity and action. jamey rodemeyer’s life changed mine. and while his death only makes me wish that i had done this sooner - i am eternally grateful to him for being the catalyst for change within me. now i can only hope to serve as the same catalyst for even one other person in this world. that - i believe - is all that we can ask of ourselves and of each other."  - zachary quinto [x] (via gypsy-sunday)

"I like the diversity that my children are exposed to every day. I love the way their brains work. Joe turns to me the other day and says, ‘One day I will have a girlfriend or a boyfriend, darling. Which would you prefer?’ And I said, ‘My Love, that would be entirely up to you, and it doesn’t make any difference to me.’ But that he knows! It’s a real privilege. Talk about the best education."  - Kate Winslet, on her seven year old son Joe’s wisdom (x)

Gandhi on Homosexuality

rosenlight:

“Two gay Englishmen came to Gandhi in the 1930s and asked him what he thought of their relationship. The Mahatma asked some questions and for a short time fell silent. Then he said, “The greatest gift God gives us is another person to love.” Placing the hands of each man in the other’s, he quietly and with a smile asked, “Who are we to question God’s choice?”

This is Millicent Gaika. She is a 30-year-old South African woman who was tied up, beaten, strangled, tortured and raped for five hours.
Why was she battered and rape? She is victim of a practice called corrective rape, a term that describes the process of men raping women who claim to be lesbians until they have been turned straight. Such a practice is particularly popular in South Africa, and of course, homosexuality cannot be ‘cured,’ and Millicent is not the first woman who was victimized. The most vicious form of torture a woman can experience in South Africa for being a lesbian is having her genitals mutliated by sharp objects. 24 out of 25 men who are accused of doing such crimes walk free. More than 500 corrective rapes are reported each year, and more than 30 South African lesbians have been murdered because of their sexuality over the past decade.
There is a petition that is aiming to expose these crimes in South Africa. The mission is to get police to be more responsive to the corrective rapes and charge reasonable fines to the men performing these rapes. Sign the petition here. It only takes a name and an address. That’s all. Please sign it.
And I’m not usually the person to say it, but please reblog this. Please get the message out there that this is happening out there in the world. Please.

New York residents Richard Dorr, 84, and John Mace, 91, have been together for 61 years. Thanks to last night’s victory, they will soon be able to marry in their home state.
“We thought about getting married in Massachusetts, but it just didn’t seem to jibe right,” said Dorr. “It should be in the state where you live.”
They plan to seek a marriage license as swiftly as possible but don’t envision a lavish ceremony.
“Just a couple of witnesses and a justice of the peace,” Dorr said.
When they fell in love, back in 1950, “marriage never crossed our mind,” he added. “It was just that we had to be together. We could not stay away.”

“You don’t have to be gay to be a supporter, you just have to be human.” - Daniel Radcliffe
